Overheard in Georgia:

Nathan Deal

"Wait.... is anybody seriously surprised that we still have racially segregated proms in Georgia? Fuck the fed'ral law. This is GEORGIA. We don't give a shit 'bout no fed'ral law. And no, I won't be endorsing this desegregated prom, either. I don't want to be taking sides on this issue. The bible says we're supposed keep coloreds and whites separate, just like we do when we wash our laundry. My mama taught me that. And we're not all bad, you know. We did stop using KKK members as chaperones for the darkies' prom back in about 1992—we decided that was just in poor taste."

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R), when asked if he supported a newly segregated high school prom in his state.
