Overheard in Arizona:

Jeff Flake

“Gov. Brewer? Sen. Jeff Flake here. Yes, the guy who isn’t John McCain but is still a U.S. senator from Arizona. Just think of me as ‘the other white meat.’ That’s what my wife does. Listen, governor, I know I’m handsome enough to be a gay man, but never mind that: I want you to veto this gay discrimination bill. It’s bad for the state, governor. It will make us look like flaming assholes. No, the fact that I said ‘flaming assholes’ should not be interpreted as my personal endorsement of gays. It’s just an expression, you flaming asshole.”

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Arizona)

Overheard on Sen. Jeff Flake's Cellphone:

Jeff Flake

“I support workplace protections for lesbians… for gays… and for bisexuals. But goddammit, we have to draw the line somewhere. To hell with those transsexuals! They are just too goddam confusing! I can never remember if those are the cross-dressers or the ones who have their penises cut off and turned inside out and made into vaginas. I wonder if you can do that yourself at home…”

“That goes double for me and I’ve seen a lot of stupid shit. Do you have any objection to me just kicking the living fuck out of some of our colleagues? I think we have reached the point where violence is the only solution.”
John McCain (R-Arizona)

"Violence is never a solution, Sen. McCain."
Sen. Flakc

John McCain

"The hell it isn't. Listen up, Jimminy Cricket. Sometimes, violence is the ONLY answer. And it is a helluva lot more fun than sitting around here waiting for something to happen."

Overheard in Arizona:

Matthew James and Nancy Salmon

"My son is by far one of the most important people in my life. I love him more than I can say. I don't believe that his gayness is a lifestyle he chose. But the little cocksucker does not deserve the right to marry his limp-wristed boyfriend."

Rep. Matthew James Salmon (R-Arizona).

Matthew Rae and Kent

It will be a great Thanksgiving dinner at the Salmon house. In 2006, Mom Nancy Salmon led the Arizona chapter of the group United Families International effort to ban gay marriage, civil unions, and domestic partnerships in the Arizona state constitution. Son Matthew Rae Salmon, who leads the Arizona Log Cabin Republicans  pro-gay rights GOP group, dates Kent Flake, the second cousin of Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), who also opposes same-sex marriage. The Flake and Salmon families are conservative Mormons. Last week, Sen. Robert Portman (R-OH) announced his support for same-sex marriage in March, citing his gay son as the reason he came around on the issue.
