“Better
education and contraception won’t stop so many unmarried blacks from having
babies—peer pressure, shame, derision, ridicule, scorn—those things will stop
it. Tattoo the word ‘S-L-U-T’ on their foreheads! Make them wear signs
that say, ‘I’m too stupid to keep from getting pregnant!’ or ‘My baby is a
bastard!’ Make them stay at home and raise those children! This isn’t about
sex. This is about getting pregnant. They are two different things. What are we
going to do about the unmarried white women who get pregnant? Nothing. Their
families will take care of them. That’s what WE do. WE take care
of our own. You don’t see many white Food Stamp Queens—only black ones.”
