Overheard Outside the Courtroom:

Jeffrey Sinclair

“The United States does not have a problem with military sexual assaults. We have a problem with women who don’t know it’s a helluva lot easier if they just say yes.”

Army Brid. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair, who pleaded guilty to lesser charges in exchange for charges of sexual assault and other major offenses filed against him being dropped. The plea agreement had the potential to send Sinclair to jail for up to 18 months, but the military court judge instead fined him $20,000 and issued a reprimand. But it was a stern reprimand. The plea deal allows Sinclair to avoid being required to register as a sex offender, despite forcing a female captain to perform oral sex on him and threatening her family with harm, after she ended their consensual affair.
