Overheard in Washington, D.C.:

Eric Cantor

"People who want gay marriage have to accept there will be some of us who believe it will never be acceptable because of personal religious convictions, and they need to respect our right to not accept it."

Eric Cantor (R-Virginia), Majority Leader for the House, whose personal worth is estimated at between $3.4 and $9.4 million, while he earns $193,400 per year in Congress.

"Hello, Eric. I am Jesus Christ. We've never met. So... YOU don't have to accept anyone else's views, BUT everyone who disagrees must respect YOUR views, have I got this correct? The people in favor of gay marriage believe it is a legal issue—and it is. I believe gays should have the right to marry. They will give great parties. You can object to it on the basis of religion all you want. No one gives a flying fuck about that. But the citizens of your country are supposed to be treated equally by the law, and from state to state, and the only way to do that in this case is to make gay marriage legal at the federal level. Period. And if you respect those people who FAVOR gay marriage, I am sure they will respect YOU for objecting to it on religious grounds. Didn't your mom ever tell you that? And I also want you to stop telling people I am your motivation for everything. In truth, you are just a power-hungry greedy little fuck who barely knows me. Stop. It. Now."
