“That is a big fat lie. I would never. That is offensive. I would never exert political pressure like
that. I would never play with peoples’ lives and happiness just to score points
politically. It doesn’t matter to me if New Jersey legislators approve gay
marriage or not, because I’d just veto it. I don’t believe that even a veto
override would affect my 2016 presidential campaign at all. Why, if I
represented just the fourteenth state to approve gay marriage, nobody
would bat an eye—certainly not the blood thirsty, same-sex-marriage-hating
conservative wing of the national GOP. NOT AT ALL. You know what ‘Sweeney’
means in New Jersey-speak, don’t you? ‘Full-of-shit lying bastard.’ It’s in our
state dictionary—look it up, pal! Now, pass me the doughnuts, would you? I’m
only eating them because I'm nervous.”
