Overheard in Pennsylvania:

“Yes, 73,300 Pennsylvanians lost extended unemployment benefits as of Dec. 28. Yes, the state’s economy lost $25.1 million in just the first week of those benefits being cut! And yes, that is a loss of $650 million over 26 weeks. And yes, Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate is above the national rate. And I’ll even admit there are still three people seeking a job for every one job that opens. But, dammit, the unemployed just don’t count! They are lazy, despicable, jackals feeding out of the public trough! And we’re saving money!”

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pennsylvania), fabulously wealthy staunch conservative who is reportedly one-half a chromosome away from riding the short bus permanently
