73,300 Pennsylvanians lost extended unemployment benefits as of Dec. 28. Yes,
the state’s economy lost $25.1 million in just the first week of those benefits
being cut! And yes, that is a loss of $650 million over 26 weeks. And yes,
Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate is above the national rate. And I’ll even
admit there are still three people seeking a job for every one job that opens.
But, dammit, the unemployed just don’t count! They are lazy, despicable,
jackals feeding out of the public trough! And we’re saving money!”
