Overheard on Cable:

Sarah Palin

“Oh, yah. Someone told me Katie Couric’s talk show had been canceled. And you know, she did that after her time as anchor of the news on CBS—she left because her ratings tanked. See what happens when you make fun of Sarah Palin by asking her perfectly legitimate questions she hasn’t prepared for? You get zapped. What goes around comes around, bitch.”

Sarah Palin, who regularly strikes out at Couric, who famously interviewed Palin during the 2008 election campaign, asking tough questions, including, “What newspapers do you read regularly?” Palin’s answers and physical responses significantly hurt her chance to be elected to national office by showing America that the then-governor from Alaska was but one or two IQ points above a turnip.

Katie Couric
“Uhm, excuse me? Mrs. … Palin, is it? Do I know you? Have we met? Maybe it was some time when you mattered?”

Katie Couric, whose first-year talk show was the highest rated new talk show during the 2013 television season. Couric opted not to continue the show past its second season and has assumed the job as global news anchor for Yahoo!, effective Jan. 13. She launched her new job with an interview with former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, whose new memoir is critical of the Obama Administration.
