are suggesting that shutting down the federal government just to stop further
implementation of Obamacare would be a ‘bad idea’ or ‘the wrong approach.’
People are saying to me, ‘Ted, you are a fucking moron. When government grinds
to a halt, the political party that caused it takes the blame and it doesn’t
recover for years.’ Well, at one point someone said ‘New Coke’ was a bad idea.
At another point, someone said the ‘Edsel’ was a bad idea. And at another
point, someone said ‘Having a political party that appeals only to the rich and
wealthy’ was a bad idea. In each of those cases, the bad ideas turned out to
be… well… bad ideas! Wait. Stop. Somewhere along the way I fucked that up. Can
I start again?”
