Overheard in Washington, D.C.:

Sen. Rob Portman

"You know, for years I fought to keep gays from having the right to marry. I took that position to court the conservative vote. But just recently when my son told me he is gay, I decided I wanted HIM to have all of the rights a married heterosexual person would have. You silly fools. The only reason we conservatives ever change our minds is because we are personally affected. I didn't give a shit about the hundreds of thousands of gay couples that could have had the same rights while I was busy fighting against it, but now with my son coming out, I want things changed. Oh well. Better late than never."

Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio)
